A Season for Nonviolence…Carry the Vision
January 30 – April 4
Imagine residents of the Greater Dallas Area paying attention to the notion of nonviolence in all we say and do. Imagine everyone in Dallas, Denton and Collin Counties practicing the wisdom of nonviolence as Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. did. What if every school and business contemplated a particular principle of nonviolence every day for 64 days? What kind of city would Dallas become? What kind of family life
would we experience? How would the conscious practice of nonviolence change us individually and collectively?
The “Season for Nonviolence” is our chance to find out.
The “Season for Nonviolence” is observed January 30 – April 4, the period between the anniversaries of the deaths of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. Opening ceremonies are held each year at the United Nations in New York. Task forces in 115 U.S. cities in 40 states and 10 countries have embraced this grassroots campaign to bring to life the spirit and practice of nonviolence as a powerful means to heal, transform and empower individuals and communities.
